Harpers Ferry overlook - February 2021

With snow blanketing the trails and the sun filling the sky, it was a perfect day for Joe and me to make the 90 minute drive to Harpers Ferry. The Maryland Heights Trail starts in West Virginia and immediately crosses into Maryland at the meeting point of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers. After walking along the river for a half mile, you quickly ascend up the mountain, climbing part of the same path which Abraham Lincoln walked in 1862 when he attempted to review his troops at the fort during the Civil War.

After veering through the shadows of the trees on the snow-covered ground, we got to take in the views that look upon the town of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.
